Question Modem Help

I can't get Red Hat 7.0 to recognize my modem. I am using a US Robotics external serial modem. This modem works fine using Caldera Open Linux 2.2 on ttyS0. When I try to auto configure, no modem is found. When I use ttyS0 I get "can not open port" message? Any suggestions?

first try using the modemtool command in RH
and check if there is a symlink between
/dev/ttyS0 and /dev/modem
else; ln -s /dev/ttyS0 /dev/modem

I tried this and the modem still is not working. When I use /dev/ttyS0 or /dev/modem and I query the modem or try to connect now I am getting a "sorry the modem is busy" message.

hello,
i use minicom to diagnose these problems - you may also need to do a setserial on this - see this page:
