Drivers? I'm sorry to have to be the one to break the bad news, but if you neesd drivers, that probalbly means you have an internal modem, also known as winmodem. As the name should indicate they don't hold much with Linux and there's only a small chance you'll get yours to work. There's a small chance you can get it to work with the driver offered by linuxant (google!). They have a free slow version and if it works for you I believe the full version will cost you $15. Personally, after trying to get mine to work for a lng time, I bought an external modem and it was the best decision I ever made: easier, cleaner, faster!
If I'm completely mistaken and you have an external modem, well it should have been detected during installation (if you had it on) and configuring is pretty easy. |
yeah ok that is ok. so i will buy one, and will it just detect like plug in play?

Not sure how it works in Slackware. I'm using Fedora core and mine was detected on boot.
Anyway, I recommnd you have a look at htis slackware tutorial site: http://insyte.uni.cc/ and the thread about it: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=208355 |
hmmmm... i dont know why you think i have slackware but my dist is knoppix
|
i think the line right under your name that says "Distribution: slackware" is the main pointer here...
we can't help you get a modem running if we don't know what modem it is... details please. |
