Modem

I am trying to install the drivers for my modem on Suse 9.1, but when i try to follow the instructions to install it, i am told that the command 'make' doesn't exist, what do i need to install to make this doable. The instructions say i need the kernel source headers for the kernel i am running, where can i get these, will they be on my distribution CD, as i only got a one cd version?

Thanks in anticipation,
Chris

use Yast, get the kernel-source package, make sure you have the gcc and make packages (you may need more, and if you plan on compiling applications you will need alot more).

I can't find the files on my cd, i assume they must not come with the single cd version, where can i download them? I am on 56k, so if there is a way to do it with minimal downloading that would be good. Thanks, Chris

Kernel-Source and gcc should be on most distributions' CDs as far as I know since it's like basic and probably some of the most essential pieces of software. You can get your kernel's kernel-source at kernel.org.
