I've got a minolta magicolor 2430 DL. It's connected to all computers via ethernet through a router. It works perfectly in Windows and says it works in Linux. I'm having a lot of trouble setting it up with kubuntu however. At first I went through and set up my network settings and such. Using the driver provided in kubuntu for the printer, I attempted to set it up to no avail. I also tried using the driver directly from Konica Minolta, which I don't even think installed and I lost hope trying to install. In a last ditch effort I tried to alter the CUPS server, and now can't do ANYTHING. The printer doesn't even show up, if I go to add a printer using the CUPS system, I get:
Quote:
An error occurred while retrieving the list of available backends:
Connection to CUPS server failed. Check that the CUPS server is correctly installed and running.

When I try to "configure server":
Quote:
Unable to configure print server. Error message received from manager:
Unable to retrieve configuration file from the CUPS server. You probably don't have the access permissions to perform this operation.

(This is using root permissions btw.)
And when I start kcontrol and go to printers:
Quote:
Unable to restart print server. Error message received from manager:
Unable to find a running CUPS server

Any ideas?
