Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 4.0 in slackware

I have slackware linux, on an alienware laptop. I have been able to get the trackpad and mouse working simultaneously, however the USB mouse will only move the pointer on the y axis. the buttons also seem to randomly clic when it's moved. I've tried several different options in the xorg.conf file for the drivers and the like, but every solution everyone I've seen has posted does not change this behavior. This is the new intellemouse, not the old one, are there new drivers or something that I need? I know how to set up logitec and apparently the old intellemouse, but I'm guessing this one has new drivers possibly? I think it's the 4.0, it's the one that has the middle mousebutton that can scrolll horizontally. Anyone else had this problem and know what causes it? It seems to work fine under the Linux from scratch cd boot, and PHLAK linux. I'm going to try opening up phlak's xorg.conf and see if that helps any, any other files i might need to look at for options?
