MEPISlite digital camera not recognized as normal user

i've just installed MEPISlite, the main reason i installed was to download pics from my camera. However im only allowed to do this as root. while im loged in as a normal user it fail to recognize the camera, is there some thing i have to do so i can get the camera to work as a normal user. Thanks.

Log in as root. Plug the camera in. See what device it is mapped to in the /dev directory. You will find that it is owned by root and some user group. Your normal user account has to be a member of this user group in order to access the camera. Add the group that owns the camera to your normal user account.
