Open up a terminal session, then enter the following command
Code:
free
The "free" command will display information about your RAM. (man free for more details.) Based on your description though, it may be that the extra RAM is not compatible with your mobo. What exact (make/model) of RAM are you using, and what mobo do you have?

I suppose this looks correct for 1.50gb of ram (command free)

Mem:
  • Total 1554272
  • Used 238140
  • Free 1316132
  • Buffers 14520
  • Cached 117144

Buffers Cache:
  • Total n/a
  • Used 106576
  • Free 1447796
  • Buffers n/a
  • Cached n/a

Swap:
  • Total n1124508
  • Used n/a
  • Free 1124508
  • Buffers n/a
  • Cached n/a

Look right for 1.50g's?

Excellent - your system is recognizing all the RAM (which is confirmed by the statistic 'Mem total = 1554272')

Have fun!
