Memorex USB Thumbdrive will not mount on RH9 - USB conflict
I am trying to get a memorex thumbdrive to work on my sony vaio pcg-c1xs picture book running RH9 with the 1.4.20-8 kernel. It seems to be a USB problem, I have mounted this thing on another linux box so I think I know how to do that. The content of the important part of dmesg is the following:
hub.c: new USB device 00:07.2-1, assigned address 2 usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x8ec/0x8) is not claimed by any active driver. SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00 Initializing USB Mass Storage driver... usb.c: registered new driver usb-storage usb-uhci.c: interrupt, status 2, frame# 716 usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices hub.c: already running port 1 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling... usb.c: USB disconnect on device 00:07.2-1 address 2 WARNING: USB Mass Storage data integrity not assured USB Mass Storage device found at 2 USB Mass Storage support registered. hub.c: Cannot enable port 1 of hub 1, disabling port. hub.c: Maybe the USB cable is bad? So I'm not getting a /dev/sdanything. Anybody have any ideas...I haven't been able to find a solution anywhere. -t |
Upgrade your kernel. There is something about the 2.4.20 kernel that doesn't recognize the thumbdrive. I have the same drive, and experianced the same problem. As soon as I upgraded to the 2.4.30.9 kernel, it worked without any problems.
