megaraid 320-1 raid controller card

I'm having trouble getting redhat (8 or 9) to see this. The distro doesn't come with the module in the kernel by default and when I try and install it from a floppy it fails. I've read somewhere that the driver must be built into the kernel and can't be installed as a module (for raid controllers)....?

Any suggestions appreciated.
