No, this was after a normal shutdown. But this machine frequently shuts down by itself without warning when low in juice. When that happens, I can't switch it on again unless I plug it in first. It's never caused a disk corruption though.

Just for info: I installed memtest86 and added it to my LILO menu. Just now I ran one pass. It took 22 minutes and found no errors, so I think the problem was probably a one-off.
