Question Media buttons and remote on HP dv8000t

Hi have an HP dv8000t laptop and I was wonderinig if there is a way to get the media buttons working under linux. Is there a way to assign them for use in linux? The buttons are for controlling volume and opening programs. Also how do I configure the fn buttons?

The computer also came with a remote control. I believe its IR. I don't know if anyone has got this to work. Maybe it would work after the fn keys are configured? I think it just does what those keys do...

Thank you for your help!!

I've heard good things about keytouch:

We have a dv8000 series notebook at work running Ubuntu, and the remote worked without any configuration, so I'm sure there's not too much to it.
