MCE message not readable

Running Slackware 13.37 with 2.6.37.6-smp #2 SMP i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2200+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux.
Received these 3 messages from syslogd at 21:51:36:
[ 8100.000030] [Hardware Error]: Run the message through 'mcelog --ascii' to decode.
[ 8100.000019] [Hardware Error]: No human readable MCE decoding support on this CPU type.
[ 8100.000034] Disabling lock debugging due to kernel taint

Just prior at 20:17:40 sylog shows an out of memory which has occurred one other time since Oct 5 and from my memory never:
[ 2463.196296] Out of memory: Kill process 2541 (gltext) score 881 or sacrifice child
[ 2463.196301] Killed process 2541 (gltext) total-vm:1147428kB, anon-rss:1128520kB, file-rss:0kB

Here is my memory via free FWIW:
total=1278368 used=356696 free=921672 shared=0 buffers=26576 cached=151280
-/+ buffers/cache: used=178840 free=1099528
Swap: total=3068 used=1812 free=1256

I tried: "mcelog --ascii" (w/o quotes of course) and nothing happens.
I am gathering the MCE is/was correctable but am not sure.
Also not sure if the messages from syslog at the 2 times are related.
How is the "Killed..." message read?
