Maxtor One Touch in Fedora 10

I've seen similar threads, but none of them really fit with what I'm getting. When I run dmesg | tail after connecting it I get:
Code:
scsi14 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usb-storage: device found at 12
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
usb 1-2: New USB device found, idVendor=0d49, idProduct=7100
usb 1-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=3, SerialNumber=2
usb 1-2: Product: OneTouch II
usb 1-2: Manufacturer: Maxtor
usb 1-2: SerialNumber: 5JVVFYV8
usb-storage: device scan complete
usb 1-2: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 12
The last line will repeat over time, and the address number seems to progress higher every time I disconnect/reconnect the device. It's an NTFS partition, and it's not yet assigned to a /dev so I can't just force mount it. My Gnome Device Manager at one point said I didn't have enough power for the device, but it's plugged into an outlet so the USB shouldn't be using power anyway.

Just plugged in a thumb drive. The thumb drive works if I plug it in while the One Touch, but if the One Touch is plugged in and then I plug in the thumb drive, it lights up and doesn't do anything. As soon as I unplug the One Touch, the light kicks on and the thumb drive gets mounted and starts working. Could the One Touch really be sucking all my juice from my USB ports even though it's plugged into a wall outlet?
