I have a black armor maxtor drive. According to them it is not supported in linux. When you plug the drive into a winblows machine it mounts it as a cdrom until you enter the password. Then it unlocks the drive.
Now I am running redhat server 3 with 2.4 kernel. If I mount it by doing mount -o loop /dev/sdb /mnt/cdrom I can mount it as a virtual cd like windows does but I have no way of sending the password to the drive to unlock it so I can mount it as a regual usb drive. Is there a way in the mount options to send a password to the drive?

Note I need to do this command line only. Our servers are not running the X11 desktop. If anyone knows how to unlock these drives in linux or any tools that I can run from command line to unlock this drive I would appreciate it.

The program is included on the drive (so suspect .exe or msi or such.) Might be an autorun.inf file that will lead clues. The program may or may not work in wine.

i think the guy who wrote that has figured that much lol...

im in the same boat... I wrote to BlackArmor and they will not even give away how they communicate to the hard drive...

I think it's time for disassembling their program... Hopefully someone figures it out, it really can't be that difficult! :-)
(there are probably handshakes etc, but in principle it should be doable!)
