max ips on a network adapter

has anyone ever configured 40+ ip addresses on one network adapter?

I have a machine running (centos) that has about 18 ips per network adapter and I've been asked to configure a centos box with 50 ips on on network adapter

anyone see any problems?

any other config changes that need to be made to handle a lot of traffic on the one network adapter?

thanks in advance.

I've set up hundreds on a webserver before. The only choking point may be the amount of traffic coming through. If you set up bonding on two interfaces for all the IPs you may be a bit better situated to handle any traffic surges.
