Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

matrox G550 Dual Head on Suse 10.0

I wish to be able to use the dual head feature of the Matrox G550 card under Suse Linux 10.0 (64-bit version); at present both my Iiama 768*1024 screens show the same content, and I wish to use them together to establish a 2048*768 screen. I've been into YAST and thereby SAX2 where I expected to be able to create an additional tag for 'Screen 2' but cannot see how this can be done. Presumably once achieved you can then activate dual-head working quite straightforwardly eg. by ticking a checkbox. Can anyone please cast some light on how dual-screen working can be achieved via YAST? I'm sure it's simple when you know how!

The goal appears to be achievable, but all solutions I've seen appear to be based on producing an 'xorg.conf' file which looks as though it would require some specialist knowledge I don't posess to get correct (and that on my system the file appears to be autogenerated and contains dire warnings that it should not be edited.

David.
