master and slave drive - fc3

i recently added a 20 gig drive in addition to a 10gb which i had with fc3 up and running. after much fuss about slaves and masters non-linux related...i decided to just set the 20gb as master and 10gb as slave and start from scratch.

in setup i told it to remove all partitions and install onto the 20gb drive. (i was hoping to totally get rid of the linux install on that now-slave drive...which i am pretty sure it did)

after setup though, i noticed that my free space is somewhere around 22 gigs (i am checking this just by opening up my home folder and on the bottom it says free space)...so what does that mean? my linux install is using 8 gigs? when it was just my 10 gig drive a fresh install was just using slightly above 5 gigs.

also, does it normally combine the two drives or are they supposed to show up as two? or how do i get it to where anything i download i can download onto my slave aka "storage" drive so i don't have to redownload if i end up restarting (this is how i have my xp box setup a c and d drive with d holding music and home movies and c holding os and programs.)

i appreciate in advance...

oh yes before i forget. fedora core 3 kernel 2.6. (umm i believe its 2.6.9.667 that comes with it? i'll probably update to latest tonight though)

btw i am still fairly new at all this although i think i'm sorta getting the hang of it. i tried searching but as far as i could tell none of the results were relevant

The two drives would be reported separately. Run the following commands, and post up the results. (Both these commands just show info about how the drive is partitioned and how much space is being used.)
Code:
fdisk -l
df -h
You will need to run as root for the fdisk command, and note that the parameter is a lowercase "L". Seeing those results should give us the answers -- J.W.
