Massive Audio DC offset

Quite similar to the problem mentioned here
http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15541

Environment:

Hardware: Intel duo core L720T

OS:
Ubuntu 8.10-------------vs.------------------WindowsXP (exactly the same computer, using VitrualBox)
ALSA----------------------vs.------------------ALSA Audio Driver

Audacity
massive DC offset-------vs.------------------no DC offset at all

Is it possible that Ubuntu Audio Driver has something wrong ?

Regards
JIA

Hi.

I suppose it's possible that the ALSA driver is switching on (or not switching off) 'Phantom Power' on the Mic input, and that the wiring is a bit weird for the mic.

Might be worth hitting the ALSA mailing lists, or filing a bug.
