Map USB device to a specific special file

Hi all,

sorry to bother you with this, but I forgot how to do it and can't find it on google.

I know that there is a way to map a specific USB device to a specific special file. Currently it is mapped to /dev/input/eventX where X is variable (may change each time you plug in a USB device).

I want to map it to a specific special file every time it is plugged in. I remember that I was able to steer that based on the product ID or product key (something viewable by "cat /proc/bus/input/devices").

I can't remember how to do it...can anyone please refresh my memory?

Many thanks,
Michael
