Mandrake USB hard drive issues


I am running a Mandrake power pack as a file server. The pc is a AMD 2.0ghz.
When I try to connect a USB hard drive I get the following results in var/log/messages:

I try to use diskdrake to from the mandrake control center, but it freeze up the control center.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
