Angry Mandrake new Asus mobo, 3com Gig 940 Lan can not access Internet

Due to computer failure, I have upgraded to an Asus P4P800 Mobo with onboard lan. The lan is 3com Gigabyte 940.
After building the computer and installing my existing Mandrake 9.1 hard drive, a most irritating thing has come up.
All Mobo drivers have loaded up and I have no problem with sound, video, etc..
I have resorted to plugging in an old Lan card for which MD has no problem with which is why I am on the web. (Got tired of switching back and forth from Windows UGHH.) This Lan work with Win.

But I am having a devil of a time with the on board Lan. Mandrake will not recognize that it exists. At all.
I have updated my Kernal, updated XFree, and all other updates. I have followed the instructions that came with Asus mobo CD for installing Lan Drivers for Linux to the letter. All I get are errors. Tried running Iscmod to see if anything was out there. Nothing.

It does show up in Harddrake as Ethernet, but it says, unknown.

The drivers won't load, so I can not associate Unknown with it's drivers.
Message running Make Load:

Does anyone have any ideas?? Tried everything. Would like to put old Lan card back in old computer....
Thanks very much in advance!

I think your P4P uses the same 3Com controller as my A7V600 motherboard. There aren't specific drivers for this controller - rather, you have to use Syskonnect's Yukon/Marvell driver module. This driver recognizes the 3Com controller from the version 2.4.22 kernel and up. In any case, I'm assuming Mandrake has automatically compiled all drivers as modules for you. So all you should have to do is this as root (from console):
modprobe sk98lin
And then eth0 (or eth1 if the other card comes first) should be available. If sk98lin isn't available, you'll have to get the source for your kernel, and compile the module for the Marvell/Yukon chipset. There are plenty of good FAQs and HOWTOs for this, sorry don't have a link handy
