mandrake 10.1 official hates my usb adsl modem

I have a turbocomm ea900 usb adsl modem, sometimes called a DSL-W ea900. The modem lights turn green, but stay solid green (as if it's frozen) and the modem isn't recognised. After much googling i've found it uses the Alcatel dynamite chipset. Based on this i found the zyxel driver (sourceforge.net/projects/zyxel630-11), but being new to linux couldn't get that to work. I'm pretty sure it uses PPPoA.

Any help on this matter is appreciated.

Did you install the alcatel firmware? When I tried using the Alcatel frog this a couple of years ago there was a problem with the way the table was set up. There used to be a HOWTO on the SUSE web site explaing how to fix the .o file

ashryalls 03-07-2005 09:37 AM

thanks for your reply, i've not knowingly tried the alcatel firmware (because i have no idea which one i need or what to do with it), and i don't know if the SUSE thing will be there but i'll have a look around

ashryalls 03-07-2005 11:29 AM

well, i had a look with the speedtouch firmware (although it's not a speedtouch) and got this :
Code:

make: *** [speedtouch.o] Error 1

there was a whole load of other junk but it's too long so the board won't let me post it.

any ideas?

gerry 03-07-2005 06:41 PM

It's all a bit faded - but IIRC you just unpack the speedtouch stuff - have you checked your usb entry table to make sure its set up correctly? Sorry its a while now - I use a router and gave the frog to a charity shop...

ashryalls 03-08-2005 04:40 PM

i'm not really sure how you mean check the usb entry table, i did lsusb, and the modem was listed there as an alcatel modem.
I also took a look around mandrake and found 2 rpm's related to alcatel modems. Still not working though :)

ashryalls 03-10-2005 03:47 PM
