Mandrake 9 Graphics Problem
I just installed Mandrake 9.0, the download version. I have a PNY GForce 4 TI 4200 Graphics card with 64MB memory and a Dell M990 monitor. The only graphics mode I can set it at is 800x600 with 16bit colors. I am running XFree 4.2.2.
Thoughts?

run XF86config and set the X server up properly... Make sure you know the monitors Horizontal and Vertical refresh range and use the Nvidia GeForce video driver. For memory on the card enter 65536 (1024x64) and edit the screens selection so that you have the screen size and default colour depth you want.

The nvidia drivers are good but can also be a bit of a pig. Make sure you follow the instructions to the letter and keep your fingers crossed.

Thank you everyone for all the help.
jgr220: I did a search in the hardware forum for "gforce4" before posting and got strange results, of which none of them were for graphics at all... I've tried more than once and just tried again... I'm sure it's something I'm doing... sorry.
wapcaplet: I just went and downloaded the drivers... I guess I'm to download the Linux IA32?
robotmsn757: 3123 driver? What's that and where do you get it? or is this the same drivers as the Linux IA32?
Thanks again everyone for the help... I'm booted into Windoze right now, but will boot into Mandrake here in just a little bit and give these a try.
My end game is I would like to see how much of my world I can move over from Win2000 to a flavor of Linux... but I will have to depend on Wine to work... I have professional 3D software that is ONLY available in Windoze. I've already tried to run "Rhino 3D" in Wine and it kicked up, but I need to get into the Wine config and do some serious tweeking and addition of many variables for Rhino and additions to the path. If anyone knows of a "good" Wine source to help me out, I would appriciate it.
Thanks.

I hate to sound stupid, but... I just tried installing the downloaded NVidia drivers and here is the error I get when using "rpm -i" to install the driver:
error: failed dependencies:
NVIDIA_kernel is needed by NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-4191
jgr220: Something has happened to my "Software Resource Manager". Now everytime I start it up, it promps me to "Configure Sources" and all I can select is Quit or Save & Quit. I can no longer install apps. I'm not sure how to get the kernel source installed now... should I just go ahead and run XF86Config?
Thanks everyone.

Picking the right drivers is a bitch and almost every body I've seen with successful installs has used the source drivers you have to install 2 parts either way theGLX and the kernel, did you tell us what you did so far so we can help to trace your steps to find out why you got failed dependencies.BTW if you searched gforce that would explain the strange results try geforce.
