Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

mandrake 9 can't find my Microtel's modem

I bought a Microtel no-OS system and have installed Mandrake 9.0. The system has a modem, but I can't get any software to recognize or locate it. I'm a total newbie to Linux (used CP/M '82-95, DOS 90-, Win3/98), but I'm enrolled in a local community college class that starts in mid-October.

good choice.

I also used dos and win3.x/9x and changed to linux. It need a month to get use of linux. It worth and it rocks. Welcome back to the command line world.
