Mandrake 9.2 with Hauppauge wintv TV capture card

I just installed a Hauppauge Wintv card in my PC running Mandrake 9.2. It won't boot up, freezing just after the step in the sequence that says "building window manager sessions" When I take the card out it boots find, put it back in the same thing.

I tried reinstalling Mandrake 9.2 and the same thing happens. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Have you installed the BTTV video driver --- should be there automatically.
Ensure the TV packages have been installed.

I use SUSE with the same card -- no prob

Here's a screenshot shot of the KWINTV application (XAWTV might also work).

(Arsenal getting the ist goal in their FA cup match last Saturday.)

I think the problem is that hauppuage starting using a new chip in this card (conexant 23881 vs BT878

The recommended driver, CX88, is not a choice when I set up the TV card in Mandrake 9.2. This is my first experience with Linux. Any help on how to load this new driver would be very much appreciated.
