I'm trying to dual-boot Win2k and 'Drake 8.2, which theoretically shouldn't be a problem...but when I try to boot from the (burned from ISO) Mandrake CD it starts loading the program into memory, then stops and gives me the "Kernel panic: tried to kill init" message. This guy (
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...=KT333+chipset) has a config extraordinarily like mine, and his works (well, sort of or he wouldn't be here) ...aargh.
I've got an Abit KX7333 w/ onboard Raid mobo (Via KT333 chipset), Athlon XP 2100+, 512Mb RAM, Radeon 8500LE, SoundBlaster Audigy, usual assortment of IDE optical drives, an internel Zip drive, and a couple of random NICs. 2 20Gb drives are in a RAID 0 array and one 20Gig is standalone: 10Gb as the boot disk in Win2K, and 10Gb blank (it's where I want linux to go)...and if it's all the same to Mandrake, I'd really rather that linux not even
see the Raid drives (safer that way).
If anyone has any ideas what could be causing the kill init signal, I'll be eternally grateful -
