Why wont it install module into kernel ?
Simonau,
Two things:
1. You need to use the "--force" command when you install the ATI module. See the ATI website for the correct syntax, letter for letter.
2. This may sound funny, but you may want to check and see if your driver is indeed loaded! I received some errors similar to that and thought it was a bad merge, but when I tested the OpenGL, it worked beautifully! You can tell right off if the driver is loaded correctly by running "fglrxinfo" You should see the ATI driver and no mention of MESA at all. It did take me a couple tries before the driver loaded properly (I think I didn't get the syntaxcorrect the first few times, s'why it took a couple tries.).
Hope this helps,
J
Have used --force command still no joy.
When i run fglrxinfo I get MESA!!!!!!!
Have tried multiple times still will not install
Why wont it install module into kernel ?
Also, you need to make sure you have glib installed. I found out that it doesn't install with the normal installation and that I actually had to go find it on the . RPM repository . Download the latest glibc rpm and install it. Then reinstall the ATI driver.
J
I had the same problem, the insertion error was because i was running root under a session from my user name, if you start the session from the login as root and then run make_install.sh it should work fine
