Mandrake 10.1 fails to recognize Intellimouse
I just installed Mandrake 10.1 (from DVD) and am having problems getting my mouse recognized. It is a MS intellimouse optical (has PS/2 and USB support, neither one works).
The mouse worked fine during the install but now in order to get it working I have to use the keyboard to navigate to the mandrake control center, get to the mouse section, and reconfigure it, then it will work (using either PS/2 or USB connection). When the computer is restart, any settings I make here get changed back to the default "Generic USB/PS2" mouse and it is broken again. I read another post in this forum that talked about what sounded like a very similar problem. That user was able to get his mouse to work (in USB mode) by changing the APIC or ACPI settings in his BOIS. I can't find any such option on my mobo (DFI infinity 875P) BIOS. Anyone have any ideas on how I can go about getting the mouse to work? Any help is greatly appreciated. |
Hi!
I don't know the exact solution, but here's my 2c: 1. Try http://qbik.ch/usb/devices/ & search for Intellimouse 2. In MDK Control Center: try 'Universal' and "Any PS/2 & USB mice" from the list, and maybe use the PS/2 interface of the mouse... Why 2)? Well, after some similar trouble I chose this option instead of PS/2 xyz or USB xyz. Works perfectly here :) And about PS/2 vs USB --> I think USB is still a troublemaker, at least with new hardware. Hope that helps, x86h ;) |
FIXED!
Ok
So the problem was that /etc/X11/XF86Config pointed to /dev/mouse, which didn't exist. I changed the config line to: Code:
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux" |
Hello,
I had the same problem with my Intellimouse and Mandrake 10.1. I would have to enter HardDarke with the keyboard to re-config my mouse every bootup. The "one line change" solution worked for me perfectly. Thanks ajm8372! |
