make limmodem for kernel 2.4.20-8 work on 2.4.22

Hi.

after compiling anew kernel,
ive found the site that i used to get drivers from now wants
$15 for the DRIVER !!!!

i paid less for my modem !

anyway, i have a binary rpm for my old kernel 2.4.20-8 (redhat 9)

is there a way i can get it to work on 2.4.22 ?
the kernels cant be that different ?

If this is for the conexant driver then you should just be able to rerun hsfconfig. I've done this on every kernel upgrade & it always seems to clear up any inconsistencies between kernel versions.

nope.... it tells me ive downloaded the wrong driver for my kernel.
and says to download a new driver for my new kernel

if it wasnt for pci modems, linux reeealy would be a decent desktop OS.

but thanX for replying.

If you have the source rpm then you can rebuild it for the newer kernel, otherwise you may be out of luck unless you can find a copy of it on another website. I spent the $15 for my license, but only because I felt like helping them out. The last rpm that I used before this worked flawlessly, it just didn't have all the V.92 modem support yet - but as a regular V.90 it worked great . If & when I upgrade my kernel I hope I don't have any issues with the new driver.

Before I forget again, I used the generic modem driver for a long time before I switched to the source rpm & it allowed me to rerun hsfconfig after upgrading my kernel & everything worked fine then too. There is also a new post on this site about people sending or posting the conexant drivers before you had to start paying for them - you might want to check it out.
