make HP CP1025 print

Hi, I just bought an HP CP1025 printer. When I first switched it on, it rumbled for a while then printed its self configuration page, so I know it can print. If I press the X button, it does that again.

I am using Ubuntu 16.04, but I also tried in 14.04.

The printer is recognized. It is plugged in and switched on, the usb cable is connected.

I specifically added it in System Settings>Printers. I have the latest version of hplip installed.

But it does not print the test page, or anything else. It does not even click then stop.

In the document print status window it says under status: stopped

I can move the print job to my old epson and it prints immediately.

Any ideas what may be the cause?

I bought HP because I was told here that they all work with Linux and this is not a new and exotic model.

Ran hp-setup, it reported all kinds of errors, but now the printer works, so thanks a lot!
