Mag LT926Wb and 1440x900

I have a new Mag Innovision LT926Wb wide resolution LCD monitor. It's supposed to be capable of 1440x900, but that's not a choice that comes up.

I'm running Centos 4.4. The Gnome configuration tool tells me I have an NVIDIA GeoForce FX video card, which has always worked for me.

The monitor selection displays a number of MAG monitors, and a few MAG Innovision monitors (DX15F, DX17F, DX21F, LX1450, MX15F, MX17F/S, MX21NT), but no LT926Wb.

Back in the old days, I'd have editted xorg.conf, but this new stuff rewrites xorg.conf every time I change something in the GUI, so there's no point.

Where do I need to look?

I don't know any of this for fact, but my guess is this:

Gnome must be getting its monitor list from somewhere. Find out where. It probably uses that to reconstruct xorg.conf.

Can you get X to the right resolution by hacking the conf file? If so, then the bug is in gnome. If not, then its in X.

Hope that helps.
