From what is posted on linux-hardwaredotorg, you have a driver loaded.

Quote:
snd_hda_intel, snd_soc_sk
That is probably not the problem. The system has detected the audio hardware, and loaded the snd_hda_intel driver. That is a very common driver and works well.

Its possible sound is just muted. You should be able to find the Pulse Audio volume control. Click on it, try playing audio. Check the Condfiguration tab, you should see a profile selected for the sound card. There is a drop down on the right. I would guess Analog Stereo should produce sound output.

On the Output Devices and Playback tabs there are mute buttons. Check those out.

Post what you find.

Try setting the HDMI card to off. Does an analog card show up then?

No.

On the Configuration tab, before you click the dropdown, on the left you should see at least 1 profile. I have 2 on my system, one for HDMI and one for HD Audio Controller. This is the one for analog audio.

While you are at it, open a terminal, run the command as root, aplay -l ; copy and paste the results here. Use the Quotes icon in Quick Reply or go to Go Advanced and use the code tag. Paste the output between the first and second locations.

Well, if you have an analog card, its not showing up. One more command. You need root privledges. Run lspci as root or sudo, copy and paste here.

Linux programs? there are literally thousands of them. It really depends on your interests, and how you want to use the system. Most distros have repos with lots of programs to try.

It appears you have only one audio card, and its HDMI. I do see a 'multi-media controller' also, but that does not show up with aplay, so it doesn't see that is where audio should go.

With that said, in pavucontrol, on the Configuration tab, there should be a HDMI stereo setting. That should be selected. This is Mint linux. Here is a post for Ubuntu that may help. Have read through it. I don't run Mint, and it ten years ago I did run Ubuntu. So, I think it might help.

https://itsfoss.com/how-to-fix-no-so...tor-in-ubuntu/

Part way through that document All Settings sound --> Outputyou should get a chance to select where you want the sound to go, the HDMI port of speakers. Try speakers.

Hope this helps.
