Lyra RD900W Remote

I've been a Linux user for several years now, but I'm a true end user. I can't program and I don't compile packages unless absolutely necessary.

I just hooked up the Lyra RD900W (sorry, I can't post a link right now) to my Xubuntu box. I'm able to use the sound card to stream music to the receivers, but I'd really like to be able to use the remote. I know there are other remotes which work with Linux, but what makes this one nice is that the signal from the remote is transmitted from the receiver back to the transmitter where it can be picked up by the PC. This means the remote can be used anywhere in my house, which would be very nice.

Unfortunately I don't even know how to determine if the PC is recieving the signals from the remote? I've worn out Google trying to find some information on this device, and I can't find out much about it. If anyone has some ideas of a better forum for help, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for any help.
