I'm running slack 14 64 on a Sun Sunfire X2100m2 server which has an LSI SAS 1064 raid controller. Now prior to install, I setup the raid enviroment to mirror my 2 sas drives which is fine, but I would like to view the status of the drivers/controller etc.

Now from the LSI site, I can download the management software which is in rpm format for RHEL but does anyone have any experience with this controller or where I can get some management tools to view status etc?

You could try converting the .rpm package to a .txz package with rpm2txz. The resulting package will probably install fine, but whether it will work is another question entirely.

I tried to do something similar to install the management tools for an HP RAID controller, and ran into all sorts of issues with dependencies. It seems Red Hat are extremely conservative when it comes to upgrading their software, and even packages for quite recent versions of RHEL required several positively ancient libraries to be installed. In some cases, creating a symlink to a later version would work, but not always.
