Lost On-Board Lan to 2.4.20-9

Just installed Red Hat 9 a few days ago. After all was said and done I had to install the BCM4400 driver to get the on-board lan working. That wasn't a problem all went well. I then let the update download and install, went from 2.4.20-8 to 2.4.20-9. With the new update the on-board lan again was knocked out. I went to re-install and this is the message I got.

Quote:
[mrbill@localhost mrbill]$ su -
Password:
[root@localhost root]# cd /home/mrbill/tart/src
[root@localhost src]# make install
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.20-9/kernel/drivers/net/bcm4400.o
[root@localhost src]#
Checked Broadcom, no update for this yet. What I don't understand is this BCM4400 driver has been working and tested in Red Hat since 7.1, according to the release notes of the driver. So why all did it stop working? Any suggestions on what to do?

Did you install the kernel-source?

I just did the upgrade too, and had problems compiling the module. Found out i forgot to install the kernel-source, then it worked just fine.

Added later:
Sorry - forget my comment, just realized you upgraded the kernel - my bad

You will probably have to install the kernel source rpm as well as the kernel itsself, then install the other driver.

If it fails then, I would revert back to the older kernel.
