Looking to buy a small touchscreen for mobile pc any brand suggestions?
I'm in the market for a new touchscreen monitor <= 15" in size. I want to make this a mobile project, specifically a car pc so it needs to be compact but reliable. I have never used touchscreen input on Linux but have read up on it and it looks like its pretty solid nowadays.
Can anyone suggest a reputable brand that works plug-n-play or am I asking too much?
What are the negative and positive experiences if any other than 1st time setup...
VGA hookup or what kind of connection on touchscreen are you looking to buy.
ELO's are pretty linux friendly.
Might be cheaper to buy a used touchscreen laptop and install linux on it.
It is how I roll in my PU truck with a Verizon Jetpack giving me internet access on the road.

Connection doesn't matter (hopefully) because the M/B supports VGA, HDMI, and DVI.
Wow that is cheap, could throw that in the garage pc. But I forgot to mention it should be VESA compliant, so this one wouldn't work for this particular project.
I was looking at something like this, although it is more than I would like to spend. Would like to keep it around $200 max. Might have to get it 2nd hand after all.

The Acoustic Pulse Recognition (APR) and Projected Capacitive touch technologies are not supported by all operating systems including Mac and some versions of Linux. See the Technology notes for each driver on the Driver and File Downloads page to verify support for your touchscreen technology.

Usually in Linux. Older hardware has better support than newer hardware. In my expereince.
My Amrel RT 786 EX Touchscreen Toughbook works with my finger on the screen with the evdriver.
This Dell XT2 works with the wacom pen and my finger on it's touchscreen/
My M&A Companion Touchscreen 9 inch atom netbooks work with the little plastic pen or my finger on the screen on AntiX Debian Testing. With a 3.16 kernel. Intel graphics vga.
