Looking for wlan card for 64bit gentoo
 

I am running Athlon64 CPU. I am looking for PCI card that pushes 54 MBit/s and works in 64 bit environment. Preferably I'd like to have linux native drivers no ndiswrapper or special tricks. Anyone? Time to brag your hardware...(oh preferably some quite new card it's irritating to try to chase some older version of netgear when shops are full of the new ones with incompatible new chipset...)

I have two computers with Cards using the RT2500 chipset ... one internal, one PCI card. I've always had to mess with them a little bit to get them going, but once working, they are rock solid.

My choice is going towards Netgear WG311T - according to madwifi site it should work. On my other computer (32bit) I have Netgear WG311 v3 - unfortunately this one is the non-atheros one and required installation via ndiswrapper and usage of windows drivers. No sweat worked great in the end but the 64bit makes it a bit more tedious. I have a USB wlan stick (fritz) on it. Unfortunately I did not get linux drivers to compile - not with 2.6.15 kernel nor with 64bit - apparently it would also work with ndiswrapper but not with 64bit - they just released new 64bit windows drivers - I took a shot on these with ndiswrapper -
nogo :(

I, however, assume that WG311T is truly an atheros card without exceptions (different version) and take a shot at it.
