looking for advice: develop linux live CD.

Hello
I am looking forward to developing a highly customized live cd/usb.
i would like to know what advices you can give to me? where i should look for information and documentation.
the goal is create a live cd that as soon as it boot establishes a secured connection with a server and something like that.
if you have any advice, where i should start.

Something like that? that's pretty general.
Anyways, you can search google for customizing your distro of choice, if you want to customize a live cd, I recommend Knoppix.

what I would like is to create it from scratch.. not just 'customizing' if it's technically possible.

Then I suggest you try LFS, acronym for Linux From Scratch.

Take a look at Slax. It should give you a few good ideas.
