Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Looking for a recommended laptop for Fedora Core 5

All, I'm looking to buy a new laptop on which I plan to install Fedora Core 5 as the only operating system.

Ideally I want it all to "just work" with a minimum of fuss and bother. Wish list ....

* Cheap !
* with firewire or USB2 that will work with 2nd gen ipod
* USB that works with Sony Ericsson K750i would be good
* must have 1280 x 800 minimum
* working on-board modem, network, 11b/g wireless
* working bluetooth would be nice
* DVD writer

Suggestions ?

Well, if you want good and cheap you have to buy two laptops. One good and the other cheap...

FWIW, I had good luck with FC3 on IBM Thinkpads.

Yes, Thinkpads are great. Not only FC, every Linux distro or *BSD runs great on them. They are not cheap though
