Looking for a linux compatible mouse
I just installed fedora core 5 and have been having problems with my mice. I didn't really expect them to work because they were designed for windows platforms so I decided that I'm just going to buy a new mouse. I could really use some recomendations because I want to make sure that it willl work with linux. I also don't want to spend more than $50. What mice do you guys use?
Thanks for helping me out.

There is a good chance you can probably get your current mouse to work and save the $50. What make and model is it?

also, what problems are you having with your mouse [mice? all of them?]?
is it just not working at all? or a only certain button isnt working? Or the cursor moves in the wrong direction?

After boot it works fine for about 3 minutes, but then the cursor gets stuck on the left side of my screen. I can move it vertically just fine, but when I try to move it horizontally I run into problems. If I try to move the curson to the right side of my screen too fast then it just jumps back to the left side. However, I can move it to the right side of my screen if I move the mouse very slowly.
My mice:
Belkin kq2-h7002 (ps/2, ball, no drivers necessary)
Belkin f8e812-blk-ps2 (ps/2, ball, no drivers necessary)
Labtec m-br91 (usb, optical, no drivers necessary)
Kensington 64480 (usb, ball, no drivers necessary)
Fellowes 98904 (wireless, optical, drivers are necessary)
All of them worked fine on my xp computer.
My /etc/X11/xorg.conf file:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "yes"
EndSection
I tried changing "IMPS/2" to "PS/2" and then restarting the X server but it didn't fix the problem.

Sounds more like a configuration problem than a problem with the mice. Have you tried any other Linux distros on your machine?

I haven't tried any other distros on this machine, but I installed fedora core 4 on my laptop (a really old dell inspiron) and it runs beautifully.

Well try different configurations and other distros before forking out for hardware you don't need.
