Looking for a internal blue ray drive for linux

On ASUS's website, it seems that BC-12D2HT doesn't support linux.
https://www.asus.com/motherboards-co...d2ht/techspec/
Are there any alternatives?

I think it has a quite normal sata interface and it is supported.

Just about any optical device will work with linux unless it has some strange chipset on it. It's the optical disk that has the file system on it. ISO 9660 for a CD or DVD, UDF for a DVD or BD. There is also copy protection on DVD and Bluray.

That BC-12D2HT will probably work just fine. Doesn't mean you will be able to view a BD if you don't have the correct keys. They change all the time. And, the bluray standard allows a disk to ban keys on the bluray player hardware.

You can play a disk, put another disk in that has the banned keys on it, the first disk will no longer play.

It's not the player that could be problematic, but rather the copy protected disks themselves.

They did that on purpose.
