Looking for a forum that deals with Linux issues with broken bios code.

Anyone know of a good forum concerning the issues of running Linux on a machine with a broken bios? I have an old Dell Latitude D400 laptop that will not scale the processor under the recommened cpu-freq driver due to the bios. This forces me to use the deprecated speedstep-centrino driver, that had to be modified with info on my processor to get it working. I also use speedstep-centrino to undervolt my processor in order to keep it cool. Basically I am wanting to supply a patched bios to the Linux kernel at compile time in order to get cpu-freq driver working and get rid of speedstep-centrino. I also am wanting to install an under volting utility that requires cpu-freq in order to work so I can have on the fly processor undervolting. I really don't like having to hard code in the voltages in speedstep-centrino. I have decompiled my bios and possibly have an idea of what might be wrong, but I am wanting to find someone who knows bios coding to discuss this with to confirm or deny my suspicions. The Hackintosh commmunity is well known for making bios modifications for MacOS, but I am not sure if they are familiar with Linux bios issues. If it weren't for that, I'd ask them about this.

Years ago the best place I knew for bios issues was Wim's Bios. I don't know if they can help with your quest, but it may be worth a look or a question posted there.
