this is probably a known problem:

Running slackware, I think it's 9, it's been so long since I've used it because of this:

It boots, then at the login prompt the computer no longer accepts keyboard input. KB works fine in windoze and in bootloader, but linux is useless now. It worked for a while, and now it's no longer. Haven't used it for like a month and a half now, because of this problem.

It's an older Logitech wireless (RF) keyboard, one with multimedia and 4 app keys.

So, does anyone know how I can keep this from happening?
