Logitech v400 Laptop Laser Mouse

Hello there,

I've looked been looking around for a nice mouse for my laptop and I've found one which I think suits my needs quite well; the Logitech v400.

However, I don't want to buy it unless it works fine with Linux; that would be throwing away quite a lot of money (it's not exactly a cheap mouse). Therefore, I my question is:

Has anybody tested this mouse in Linux? (And of course: Did it work?)

Oh and by the way, to all readers who perceive me as a forum newbie starting a new thread rather than looking for the answer my own: I have done Google, LinuxCompatible.org and LinuxQuestions.org searches already, but I didn't find anything related to Linux compatibility .

Thanks in advance,
Talyz

Dunno if it's too late to answer your question or not, but I just got a v400 and using it with Linux (PCLOS 0.92 and MEPIS 6) now, and it works great. Both systems recognized the mouse without me doing a thing.

The main buttons work great, left/right/scroll, however the extra buttons don't work: side-scroll, and two extra left side buttons.

I was searching for a way to make them work when I found this forum post.

I'd recommend this mouse with Linux, so long as you don't miss those extra buttons, or want to find a hack for them. It feels good in my hand and is compact for a nice portable solution- bonus that the reciever stick stores inside the mouse for toting.
