Logitech USB Camera ??
Has anyone been able to get a Logitech Clicksmart 510 webcam working in either Mandrake 9.0 or RedHat 8.0? I have video 4 Linux as module. Both Rh & Mandy detect my APC USB UPS device.
I know support is spotty for USB webcams > so any help will be appreciated.

Did you mean ls usb? I just reinstalled RH 8.0. I was checking various configuration tools. KDE Control center > USB Devices > the Clicksmart 510 camera is listed there > has the vendor & product ID info in the details section. Since RH has detected the camera what is the next step? Which program do I need to use it?
Thank's.

I just checked in Mandrake 9.0 > USB devices > the camera is listed as unknown device > though the info does list the correct Vendor & Product ID numbers. Hope this info helps.

I meant "lsusb", this is what is says about my webcam,
Code:
Bus 001 Device 121: ID 0553:0002 VLSI Vision Ltd. CPiA WebCam
In my case this tells me that my cam uses the cpia module.

Ok, a search at linux-usb tells me that your cam is based on a SPCA500A chip which leads me to this page, things are looking grim at this stage according to their supported devices list but all is not lost, I was facing the same problem with my scanner 12 months ago and it's now working better than ever, so get involved, sign up to the mailing list and start testing.
