Logitech quickcam messenger in mdk10.1

How do I get my logitech quickcam messenger (usb) working in Mandrake 10.1 official? I have the 2.6.8 kernel. THe hardwrae detecter in mcc detects it, but doesn't know what it is and puts it under "other", and calls it camera.

vendor 1133. hmmm. most logitechs are 046d's. try /sbin/lsusb or usbview if you have it installed

simeandrews 03-20-2005 07:08 PM

I installed usbview, but what do I want to do with it?

speel 03-20-2005 07:21 PM

for my logiteck clicksmart 310 i had to install these drives called spca somthing somthing =/ i forgot

rshaw 03-20-2005 07:31 PM

run it and see if the device id matches what you posted earlier.

simeandrews 03-20-2005 08:01 PM

The vendor id is 046d

Also, on the side of usbview, camera is in red text, that probably means something.

rshaw 03-20-2005 08:05 PM

that makes more sense, the device id is ? just under the vendor id in usbview

simeandrews 03-20-2005 08:11 PM

Actually, there is no device id, but there is a product one just under the vendor id, and it is 08f0.

Just so you know, I don't have drivers or anything for this, this was a thought I had today so that I can make linux as usable as possible.

you'll need to install your kernel source and headers, devel tools etc., the readme is fairly straight forward
