Logitech MX1000 horizontal scrolling now goes forward and back.

I have a logitech mx1000 laser mouse. I'd been using a previous version of the X.org 6.9RC. I've upgraded to X.org 6.9RC2 which is xorg-x11-6.8.99.902. for complete evdev support. However since I've done this I can no longer horizontally scroll. those buttons are now forward and back buttons, even when I'm not using xbindkeys. Is there any way to get those to be horizontal scroll wheels again? Thanks for your help.

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "MX1000"
Driver "evdev"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mx1000"
EndSection
that is the xorg config i was using before, and am still using it, i have a udev rule to make that.
Also vertical scrolling works fine.
