Angry Logitech diNovo Media Desktop 2.0

This is first trip in to the Linux world and i'm liking what i find but i have hit a big problem.

I'm running slackware 10.1 with dropline GNOME 2.10 and the closest i can get the mouse, from my Logitech diNovo Media Desktop 2.0, working is up and down and right when a press the buttons. i have managed to get the TV card, Network and Graphics working...

This is really annoying especially as I'm setting this up as my TV/DVD/CD player. It does work with a standard Intellimouse optical (even the wheel)

If any one has any ideas or has experience with getting this working i would appreciate any help
