Logitech Cordless trackman in Fedora

Working on a Compaq Armada M700 running Fedora, can't get the usb Trackman to function. Tried editing XF86Config to no avail.
Set inputdevice to "AlwaysCore" and "SendCoreEvents"

Tested mouse on a Windoze works great.
Is there a way to ping my usb card or device to see if the port is bad?

oh and why does init 3 only exit out of X once?

Output of var/log/XFree86.0.log.

#this is my pointer it works
