Logitech Cordless Desktop S 510 Media Remote question
Hello.
I would like to purchase this:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...ONTENTID=10711
It is very nice wireless keyboard + mouse + remote control.
All 3 devices are wirelessly connected to one USB receiver. Do anyone know, if such configuration would work undex linux? Especially remote control? It would be nice to map keys on remote as keyboard keys in Xorg... Anyone familiar with this S510 hardware?
Thx a lot for any help!
Jan

OK, now i know the answer ;-)
I borrowed one from shop and it is working quite well.
Remote control is acting like a keyboard, it is sending keyboard keycodes and most of buttons are recognized by X, you just have to map them to some any functions You like.
Mouse is quite fine and keyboard is pretty standard and very thin.
I am going to buy that thing, it works with linux at 90%

I'm thinking to purchase this keyboard as well and
I was wondering whether the keyboard will be recognized
immediately upon boot up or not ?
I have a dual boot configuration and I'm afraid that
using USB cause the keyboard does not being recognized
early enough to do the OS selection.
Any advise ?

I think it depends on motherboard.
It is working perfectly for me.
A few multimedia keys are not recognized by xev, and i do not know why.
Any suggestions?

I settled with the S510 without remote control, but using PS2 port for keyboard/mouse. Coincidentally, it also has option to use USB port. Upon testing it, I found out that the keyboard is not being recognized during the dual boot selection. It was recognized before the Linux boot screen come up (i.e for the F2 Setup Hardware) so I don't think this is hardware issue.
I'm using SuSe 9.1 with Dell Optiplex GX110.
I don't know whether that makes a difference.
I haven't played with setting the mapping key. At the moment
I'm still looking for several hardware to upgrade the computer.
So I'm happy that it works for now.

i bought the same one today, (without remote control) and it worked out of the box. the only keys not reacting on xev are the zoom keys on the left side. no idea how i would activate them, but doesn't matter so much. i run slackware 10.2.

I recently purchased a Logitech Cordless Desktop EX110, which is much the same except sans remote. However, on my Slack 10.2 box I cannot get the mouse to work. Could someone who got theirs working maybe share the mouse section of their xorg.conf?
That Delete key's gonna take some getting used to, also
